today is the first sunny day both this month and boy have seen. yes, it’s partly cloudy, and blustery as all get-out, but dammit does it ever feel good right down to the core of me to stand outside and have the warm sun cancel the cool breeze, with the full-headed trees’ leaves all applauding the wind’s concert.
i’m trying to arrange some of my recent photography… spring always tends to be the most photogenic in terms of colour variety, with everything in bloom and the the hang of the sun in the sky just-so, casting itself so uniquely this time of year. i’m going to try and refrain from any further photos of myself until i get more requests… it’s a mixed bag, i tell you, to try pleasing everyone at once. for every two people who want more, one person comments how many there already are. i have a good mind to go through and tidy that gallery up as it is. i have plenty of new drawings, paintings, etc that i’m working on scanning, resizing and whatnot so i can update the art gallery. it’s been so long it seems, and i certainly haven’t been idle the whole time. i’ll try to post a few new items below nonetheless.
so i spent most of today re-painting an image from the upcoming legend of zelda: twilight princess for gamecube. the original was too small, low-res, jpg-artifacted, aliased, and plain. i’m not done yet, but i’ll get there soon enough. compare to the original, immediately following.

i do have one other example, but in the interest of leaving content for another posting sometime this week, i’ll hold back on it for now ; )
enjoy!
broken hearts could be more fact than fable
interesting article, that. i don’t foresee myself in any immediate, imminent danger; though it is fair to predict that this year’s valentine’s day will suck completely. six months ago, i would have anticipated just the opposite, but unfortunately january just doesn’t seem to be my lucky month with love; and as i am, it takes more than a couple weeks or even a month to develop a real closeness with a girl, so of course i’m s.o.l.
but that’s life, i suppose. at least this year to help re-adjust myself back to the life of lonely bachelordom is the fact that the holiday falls during the work week, plus i was thrown into a ‘deadline week’ quite last minute, so i’ll be plenty busy to distract me from the depressing thoughts of what isn’t.
i was thinking the other day how love really isn’t very romantic unless frosted with illogicalness, sorta like how we couldn’t see the sun’s shape without some darkness surrounding it to bring out its edges. and perhaps i’m too logical, that i recognise the boundaries of insanity against the backdrop of romance; they’re two different colours to these eyes. that would explain how despite my every good intention, someone could find them inadequate compared to another guy who might (knowingly or not) succumb to the myopia and jump off a bridge with a heart-shaped parachute or circumnavigate the globe on a tricycle to raise money for a box of chocolates. i guess in the future i should just squint a bit more to blur the lines.
of course that’s not to say i’ve an unhappy life by any means. i can’t even believe how beautiful and temperate this month has been. the past two weekends have felt more like october than february, with sixty degree weather enabling one of my favourite hobbies: detailing my car. the z is one love which has never disappointed me; it’s too bad more women aren’t as reliably affectionate. heh. on that note, i was able to both wash/wax and photograph her yesterday, and will include said photography below. there is something beautiful and unique about the sunlight during the non-summer months which can add an ethereal, dreamy haze and dramatically enhance nearly any scene. most are hi-res enough to be wallpapers or make prints of, so enjoy!

after last night’s quick post, i was pleasantly surprised by the opportunity to capture this photo this morning on the way to work. i actually stopped my car to take it…and worth every drop of gas.
who’d have thought such a filthy bit of language would get such a positive response?? in less than one day, i received 3 emails raving about yesterday’s ‘poem’ posting. who says rap music (and the media in general) doesn’t have an impact, especially with older, less-impressionable consumers?
thought of the day: i hate ‘faulty’ mp3s which burp and hiccup. nothing ruins a song like a jolt to its cadence and/or some eructation reminiscent of a casio synthesiser circa 1985.
what else is new? well i realised i have thousands of digital photographs on my computer, none of which are represented in the ‘visual‘ galleries. truth be told, i am so far behind with starting such a gallery, i don’t know if i can ever catch up.. which is a bit of a mental obstacle effectively deterring me from even trying. for anyone who does web design or development, you ought to understand
as wonderful as it is to be ambicephalous, each brain-half really functions well independent of one another, making things like typing difficult some days; words requiring letters from both sides of the keyboard a challenge… words will have transposed letters or half of one word by itself, and the other half part of one adjacent. ugh. add in my slight dyslexia, and you better be damn grateful my postings are intelligible at all. many thanks to the “spell-check-as-you-type” inventor!
thought of the day: why isn’t there a word for “the beginning of the end”? it seems appropriate to have a word for the middle-ground, of course other than ‘middle-ground’.
some rather amazing photos from the other night, the 21st. (no colour correction of any kind done, many are sized appropriately for desktop/wallpaper. look for the orange/red skies in the gallery):
