SPF – sun, plants, feed

thought of the day: why don’t plants sunburn? understandably, they ‘feed’ from sunlight, but then the question becomes, if they’re eating all the time, how come they don’t overeat? humans can both overeat and sunburn; it only seems fair that other living things do too.

in other news, my beautiful g35 has come in, and i’ve been enjoying it the past 3-4 days. i’m sad to be without my z, but all good things come to an end i suppose. at least i have something as good–and better–to help fill in the gap. look for some photos and video footage soon!

eat what you are?

thought of the day: you are what you eat? well if someone eats something good, and then you eat them, what are you? good by transitive properties (if a = b and b = c, then a = c), or bad by societal standards?

this was pretty clever…. anyone who remembers space invaders (and i can’t think of anyone–even your average senior citizen–who doesn’t or shouldn’t) can enjoy the combination of simple pixel animation and stop-motion animation. add in the human factor, a sloping movie theatre with plenty of chairs, and you have yourself a buster of an entertaining film.

and if that won you over….how about a few minutes of pong?

mother’s milk

another bit of mosquito wonderment…

thought of the day: if a mosquito taps into a nursing mother’s nipple, what fluid does it wind up drinking?

this week… expected to part with my beloved 350z :-\ but to anyone who has known me for a few years, you’ll remember my fondness for the g35 sport coupe from infiniti… if the z is a jock, the g35 coupe is essentially the z’s swanky older brother. but all is not woeful. my friend will be taking over ownership of the z, and fostering its maturation.

jack stopped by the other day, and in the course of catching up, we would up discussing about how remorseful and dissatisfied he is with having moved and his new roommate/house, respectively. to be honest, i foresaw this outcome before he was even moved out, mainly because his new roommate is someone with whom he was clearly incompatible with, based on their interpersonal dynamic and his account of it during the months leading up to his departure from this address. anyway, he mentioned the other night that he wished he hadn’t moved out, but of course considering some of the things he left behind, tangible and non, that’s not exactly an option. he warned me that he may be moving again soon. somehow–and this isn’t a slight in any way, just an educated guess–i’m betting that the 200$ per month that he is saving in rent doesn’t equate to him having any more in a savings account than usual.. which is zero.

i do have more to talk about, but in the interest of writing more soon, i’ll save it. check back in a day or two to hear more of my bizarre thoughts…

fountain of youth

thought of the day: they say that research shows humans who own dogs tend to live longer. what if it’s because humans draw out the life energy of the dogs they own, and if having been left undomesticated, dogs would live a lot longer on their own? go figure.. dogs owned by humans may tend to live shorter, while we live longer. what a deal!

happy bileday!

thought of the day: while discussing the children’s holiday classic Frosty the Snowman, i wondered if his big red nose and loud personality were an indication of alcoholism…which led me to wonder: what sort of urethra system do snowmen have anyway? surely if they drink, they must piddle!

supergeek

thought of the day: much ado is made in geek circles about how various superheroes are not created equal (as in, one could “beat” another in a fight). this leads me to wonder then if all supervillains were thrown into a raffle and one chosen at random, could any superhero defeat any villain?
