TOD: hamburger help yourself
thought of the day: is hamburger helper as effective if only the ‘helper’ and no hamburger?
thought of the day: why isn’t there a word for “the beginning of the end”? it seems appropriate to have a word for the middle-ground, of course other than ‘middle-ground’.
some rather amazing photos from the other night, the 21st. (no colour correction of any kind done, many are sized appropriately for desktop/wallpaper. look for the orange/red skies in the gallery):

so i went to the grocery store tonight, and upon returning, realised i had a half dozen ears of corn in the crisper… having been purchased at least 2 weeks ago, i assumed they would be rotten. actually, of the six, five were from a grocery story i never patron anymore, and one was purchased just a week ago from my usual grocer (one remained of four), which i tend to think of as both higher-quality, and lower-priced than the former. after husking them all just for curiosity of their potential grotesqueness, i was completely shocked to find the ‘younger, higher-quality’ ear shrivelled and fading fast, while the others, twice as old, were in pristine condition. i could’ve just tossed them on the grille right then and there had it not been after 10 p.m. already. just when you think you’ve got something pegged and know just what to expect, you learn something new.
come to think of it… that last sentence and idea, with some further introspection, could quite become a quote of the day.
speaking of things spoiling and false expectations… it was three years ago today that the shadow of a sundial sharply cast its macabre prediction of the end of my then-engagement by the end of the summer. what a thing to see, hear, and endure. again, just when you think you’ve got the future pegged; surprise! funny though, that events transpiring three years later to the day ring such a familiar sounding bell. deja vu, or which way to choose? train, caboose.
ps… i reeeeally hate the six flags commercials. you know, the ones with the midget-man buckling under 60 kg of makeup to appear as an extraordinarily limber old bastard, dancing about like a cocaine-fed chimpanzee in his monopoly-money tux. annoying as all get-out. ugh.
thought of the day: jerseys and clothing with athletic team insignia are attractive on athletes and their garb. said insignia appearing on non-athletic/obese/lethargic persons and attire are unsavory and instantly trashy.
(imagine your favourite team logo on that team’s best player and his/her jersey. then think of that team’s logo represented on a 5$ sweatshirt and worn by a fat, unkept person. notice how the team–and indeed the concept of sports altogether–is suddenly cheapened.)

thought of the day: if you put a couple scoops of cookie dough ice cream in the oven for 15 minutes, what would come out?
